Move over, Ryan Air!

USA: Get ready to check out Reykjavik, Iceland!  Wow Air, an Iceland-based efficiency airline, is gearing up to begin low-cost flights from Boston starting in March 2015!  You don't just have to stop in Iceland, though, (but why not check it out?  You'll have a stop-over either way) the airline plans to offer round trip flights all the way to Copenhagen, Denmark and London, England!  Get this...the opening costs are listed below $300 round trip, with some as low as $99!

Part of the logic behind low-cost to the passenger, explained the spokesperson, is that the efficiency of an airplane depends on its distance and the weight of the fuel it needs to carry to get it that distance.  If the plane needs to go a longer distance (overseas, let's say), it needs extra fuel just to CARRY the extra weight of the fuel for that distance.  With a stopover around 1/2-way...you cut out not only the extra fuel needed for the distance of the trip compared to many domestic flights, but also the extra fuel needed to carry the extra fuel; Enough extras?  Don't worry, you'll pay for the other extras like bags and food (toilet use, I presume, will remain free...for now) but these add-ons are no different than the low-cost Ryan Air, that has yet to "test the waters" by soaring over the Atlantic, nor the budget US airline, Spirit Air, based in South Florida.

What makes Wow Air different?  Leg room.  Unlike many budget airlines that max out at 30" between seats, Wow Air has a minimum of 30, and goes up to 36".  So, my tall, wanderlust travelers on a budget...look no further, your Trans-Atlantic shuttle arrives March 2015!
